My preamble

Earlier this year I chose my third unit in the Post Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education, Education Technology at Central Queensland University (CQU). As part of the assessment I am required to create a blog which documents my journey in the wide world of information technology and how it is possible to inform and be informed of the technologies available which can impact and enhance the learning of nursing staff in a tertiary health facility.
The assessment process requires my self determination of the product design, product description and I must then evaluate my new found skills. Fun Huh.
This will be and is a challenge, my kids just laughed when they saw the assignment and I know why,(although I do think they underestimate my computer skills- perhaps not my other IT skills.)
As my first assignment, I have had to present a Wiki which divulges some of the applications available to keep education interesting and engaging for the learner.
My blog title reflects the changes in learning which has been overwhelming the education systems worldwide, leaving teachers in a situation where they need to develop their programs to provide an interesting, informative and knowledge building environment.  Gone are the days (hopefully) of sitting in a lecture theatre being lectured.  A major drawback for teachers, is the time investment required to learn and develop the learning sessions and factor in the knowledge component and how to evaluate in a fair and equitble process.
The interactive nature and design of many applications helps in driving the learning process and providing the impetus to encourage learning beyond the classroom.  Many applications and programs can be used within a solely online environment or used within a face to face or classroom session.  I will look at differing styles of use of these and how I can apply them to my context in a Paediatric area within a major health facility in Australia.
